REVIEW: ESSENCE COLOUR & GO NAIL POLISH

Essence A Lovely Secret
Essence Glamorous Life

These are my first two Essence polishes ever and let me begin by just telling you that they will not be my last.

A Lovely Secret is part of the Essence Spring 2012 collection. It is a shimmering lavender polish. From far away, this polish appears to be a simple, creamy violet-gray, but up close and in the sun, you can see the speckled pink shimmer packed into the polish. It’s a very sophisticated color to wear on long or short nails. Application of this polish is perfect - no streaks at all. Although Essence’s bottles are smaller than the average full-sized nail polish, the brushes are full-sized and easy to use. This polish becomes opaque in two coats, but in the picture above I used three coats to ensure absolute coverage. Would I recommend this color to you? Yes! I am loving these creamy violets/lavenders polishes lately. Great for the springtime.

Glamorous Life is also part of the Essence Spring 2012 collection (hence the orange “NEW” sticker on the caps, hehe). If you have been following me for awhile now, then you know that I hardly (if ever) use red polishes. I’m just not a fan of having red fingernails, but this one proved me otherwise. Glamorous Life resembles a juicy and sparkling maraschino cherry. Doesn’t that sound delicious? I think so, but please don’t eat your nail polish. I love that the gold/silver shimmer adds so much dimension to this polish. I find myself staring at this red polish when I am procrastinating from my work, haha. Application of this polish is great (again, no streaks), but because this has more of a jelly-like consistency, I needed to use four coats to reach opacity. I know that sounds like a lot, but Essence polishes dry quickly, so don’t be fearful to use extra coats!
