REVIEW: Born Pretty Store March Nail Lacquer & Love Double Ring

Hello, hello, lovely readers! I have some more Born Pretty Store (BPS) goodies to show you today! I am using the same gold square studs from this past post for this manicure just to add a bit more bling to go with my double ring (hey that rhymed!).

image

I used March Nail Lacquer in the shade #5, which is a beautiful, muted-dusty lilac creme. Then, using a dotting tool, I stuck on the gold studs vertically on each nail. When I added them, I was doing so with my fingers extended normally without thinking about how they would photograph upside down, and well, they all look quite crooked in the first picture. My apologies for that!

Anyway, the March Nail Lacquer has a very nice formula - only two coats required for full coverage. The bottles are in a very cute, curvy shape and they are each topped with a cute bow on the cap, which can be used as a hair tie.

Then I added on the double love ring:

Aside from wanting all the nail polish in the world, I have a habit of collecting funky rings. When I saw this one on the BPS site, I knew I had to have it! This adorable double ring has a very antique-y, tarnished look to it, which I find to be absolutely cool. The bands are adjustable for all finger sizes, so you don’t have to worry about them not fitting. It’s very cute and suitable to wear on Valentine’s Day or any day of the year. :)

So, what do you think? Don’t forget to find me on Facebook and Instagram! I’d love to hear from you. :)

KISS MY NAILS!
(REVIEW: Born Pretty Store Stamping Plate KD16)

OPI My Very First Knockwurst
Milani Rapid Cherry

stamping plate KD16

To help get you into the Valentine’s Day spirit, I have an easy, kissable manicure to share with you today.

My nails are covered in lip prints, thanks to Born Pretty Store’s adorable stamping plate KD16. I started my manicure using three coats of OPI’s My Very First Knockwurst as the base color (previously reviewed here). After that dried, I went on to the fun part: stamping!

image

As you can see, the stamping plate has nine different lip prints to choose from. I used four of the nine prints for my manicure. Unlike the round Konad plates, these BPS plates are in the shape of an octagon. The edges can be quite sharp, so please be careful not to cut yourself! Other than that, the plate promises to provide cute little kisses for your nails. :)

I was worried prior to trying out the stamps because the images have very fine crevasses to imitate puckered lips. Usually, I am not very successful with stamping fine lines, but if you look at my close-up picture right above, you can see that the lines came out nicely and very detailed! I am impressed! No smudging at all. :)

I chose Milani’s Rapid Cherry for the stamping color, which worked out great for these red lips. Also, since it’s “Rapid” Cherry, the color dried very quickly to prevent any dragging from the top coat. Win!

The stamping plate can be purchased from the Born Pretty Store website here for just $2.99.

FUZZY WUZZY + tutorial
(REVIEW: Born Pretty Store Sweet Color #10 and Purple Flocking Powder)

Since I started this site over a year ago, I have received many requests for video tutorials, but I was not able to deliver due to my busy school and work schedules. However, I was feeling up to the challenge for a picture tutorial today (I’m slowly working my way up!) after trying out this velvet powder from Born Pretty Store (BPS).

I have seen velvet nail art here and there online, but not much. Like past trends (e.g. caviar manicures and such), I am sure it has died down, but I just tried it out today and I find it to be a rather funky look that everyone should try for the winter season.

So before I start reviewing the individual products, let’s take a look at how I achieved this “fuzzy wuzzy” look. :)

What you will need:

nail polish color of your choice, velvet powder, tweezers, small brush

  1. Start out by painting your nails with your favorite base color (over a base coat, of course). In this manicure, I used Sweet Color #10 from BPS.
  2. Prepare for the velvet nails by using tweezers to pick out some of the flocking powder and placing it on a sheet of paper. A little goes a long way, so don’t take out too much! I used the purple flocking powder from BPS.
  3. One nail at a time, paint on another coat of your base color. While that coat of polish is still wet, use the tweezers to sprinkle on the velvet powder all over the nail. Be sure to cover up any spots.
  4. Using the brush provided, brush away the excess flocking powder.

That’s it! Easy, right?

You can apply the velvet to all of your nails for a full fuzzy manicure, but I chose to apply it to my accent nails.

The texture is just like velvet, so you do not want to apply a top coat over it.

Sweet Color #10 by BPS is a gorgeous lavender-gray creme. It’s a one-coater, which is great for a pastel color. Love it! The bottle is super cute and the brush is flat, which allows for extra precision when painting. I chose to pair this color with a purple flocking powder (can be purchased here). Each bottle of velvet powder comes with a pair of tweezers and a small brush, so you don’t need to buy anything else to create this look. The powder is very fine and you will not get clumps on your nails.

I had a lot of fun putting flocking powder on my nails. If you want to try something new, definitely give these products a chance.

DOMINO EFFECT
(REVIEW: Born Pretty Store 2mm black round studs)

Milani White on the Spot

striping tape, black round studs

Wheee! I have a fun domino manicure for you today. :)

Born Pretty Store always has the cutest nail art items for an affordable price. Using just their 2mm black round studs and some striping tape, I was able to create little dominoes on my nails.

I started by painting my nails with two coats of my favorite white polish. When the base color dried, I added striping tape across each nail. Then, having some domino pieces out as a guide, I used a dotting tool to add the black studs onto my nails one at a time. You can use nail glue as an adhesive, but I prefer using a simple top coat since it is just as effective and less messy.

These black studs from Born Pretty Store are incredibly lightweight, which prevents them from falling off your nails. I love that the backs are flat so that application is easy. To ensure that the studs and striping tape will stay put, seal up your entire manicure with one more layer of top coat.

And here’s a picture of some actual dominoes with my nails just for fun. :)

Like what you see? You can easily recreate this look for yourself! Each bag of the 2mm black round studs costs less than $5, and as a reader of mandie’s manicures, you can use my coupon code MANDIEW21 to get 10% off your entire purchase + free shipping! Click here for the studs!
