georgiaisabell Asked: How do you stop nail tape from peeling up? My answer: Hello there! Striping tape can really be a pain in the butt, huh? It was very annoying the first few times I tried using them, but after the third or fourth time, I found the perfect way to get those suckers to shut up and sit still. When you use the striping tape, avoid touching the sticky side. Use tweezers to peel them off the roll and use scissors to snip them. Always cut out more than necessary. Then, using the tweezers, place them where you wish while leaving some excess hang off your nails. You will understand why in just a bit. Using your smallest dotting tool or toothpick, dab a small drop of top coat under each side of the striping tape to secure it down. This means you’ll have a use the tweezers to slightly pick up the tape in order to add a dab of top coat underneath. Clean off your dotting tool and then use it to lightly tap across the entire length of the striping tape to ensure it won’t peel off. Now use a cuticle trimmer to cut off the excess striping tape. I stress using a cuticle trimmer for extra precision. You want to make sure that no extra tape is hanging off the free-edge of your nail. Finally, seal off your design with a generous amount of a thick top coat. The striping tape will not peel off! Good luck! :) - mandie — Questions of your own? Feel free to drop it off in my ask box!
