I chose synthetic feathers for two reasons:
1. Authentic feathers can be very expensive.
2. In no way do I consider myself an animal-rights activist (I eat cows - lots of cows), but knowing that roosters are raised and slaughtered solely for their feathers makes me cringe. I’m sure you’ve noticed the latest feather hair extension trend (probably dying now); those grizzly feathers come from roosters.

With the synthetic feathers, try to use the thinnest feathers you can find. Through trial and error, I learned that thick feathers do not stick very well and can start to poke through the top coat - very annoying and prickly.
